About the Role:

Chardan is seeking a Senior Finance Associate for a high visibility role, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer.  This is a unique opportunity to design and implement an analytical budgeting and reporting framework, with responsibilities spanning both accounting and financial planning and analysis (FP&A). In this analytical role, this individual will work closely with the CFO and interact regularly with investment banking groups and functional department heads.

Job Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

  • Provide design and modeling support to the budgeting and planning process; track and report consolidated and group level budgets across all revenue producing groups and functional / overhead departments; interact regularly with the organization at all levels, to support the budgeting and management reporting framework.
  • Provide recurring reporting to the executive team including budget-to-actual analysis, reforecasts, and relevant KPI’s to each business or department.
  • Assess and propose analytical framework enhancements and drive process improvement.
  • Develop and analyze revenue enhancement and cost reduction opportunities.  Serve as a key finance and accounting resource within the organization, under the guidance of CFO, and in close coordination with external FinOp and auditors. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure of a broker-dealer / investment bank.
  • Maintain internal and external relationships with auditors, banks, vendors, etc. as necessary and appropriate.


  • Provide organization to the accounting function with responsibilities including accounting operations, budgeting, planning, forecasting, reporting, audits, internal controls, and contract management.
  • Review, maintain, and enforce finance-related policies and procedures for the organization; continuously assess finance processes and procedures, including controls and governance, to ensure department operations are efficient and effective.
  • Assist with the annual audit process, including developing timelines; preparing schedules; managing financial, analytical, and compliance issues.

Job Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in GAAP accounting policy and practice; CPA not required.
  • Proficient in ledger systems, including reporting tool.
  • Financial services firm experience highly valued.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Highly organized and efficient, detail-oriented
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent judgment and discretion regarding sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Friendly, positive attitude, team player
  • Professional and polished presence
